Legis-Apes: Illegal Wildlife Trade in Great Apes and GibbonsA legal assessment, based on a systematic analysis of international and national legislation, in support of Arcus’ efforts to conserve and protect great apes and gibbons. The analysis identifies internal gaps and conflicts, as well as the level of compliance with existing international obligations. It also highlights existing opportunities to support enforcement and prosecution strategies, including novel approaches that may be available, for example, in trade related legislation. Preliminary were results presented at CITES Animals Committee Meeting in Geneva on July 17th, 2018.
