Legal Analytics and Development in Liberia and GuineaAs a follow-up to the Legis-Apes project, Legal Atlas will be engaged in furthering legal intelligence for combating wildlife trade in the jurisdictions of Liberia and Guinea. This effort will provide a more in-depth understanding of specific legal limitations posed to the conservation of wildlife, identifying areas that need improvement based on international benchmarks, while highlighting existing opportunities for the application of law. In particular, the research will focus on a legal best practice assessment for these jurisdictions, including the incorporation, analysis, and display of offense and penalty schemes, as well as implementation and enforcement data. For each country, specific recommendations for legal enhancements will be made. Based on interest by expressed by national authorities, support in drafting new laws and/or amendments to existing laws will be provided. |
