Legal Atlas is conducting research into human trafficking legislation and developing a database for future release in its platform. While the statistics vary, there is no question that human trafficking affects 10s of millions of people every year and is one of the largest illicit trades along with wildlife and drug trafficking. We hope to show how all of these, and other forms of illicit trade (e.g., cultural heritage) share opportunities and challenges in legal frameworks, and what areas offer promises to improve implementation and enforcement.
